Kewanee EDC Accepts Donation from Petersen Health Care

Kewanee, IL – May 20, 2011 – Even while a sluggish economy is weighing heavily on not-for-profit organizations nation-wide, the Kewanee Economic Development Corporation received an impressive contribution from a familiar supporter. On Friday, KEDC Executive Director Russell Medley accepted a check for $3,300 from Petersen Health Care President Mark Petersen. According to Medley, the company’s generosity is nothing new. “Mark and his team have supported us annually for years, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

The KEDC serves as the catalyst for the retention, development, and attraction of quality jobs in Kewanee and Petersen Health Care literally has a vested interest in helping to foster a healthy local economy. The Peoria-based company owns and operates 4 facilities in Kewanee including two skilled nursing facilities (Kewanee Care Home and Royal Oaks Care Center), one independent living facility (Courtyard Village of Kewanee), and one facility that specializes in both assisted and independent living (Courtyard Estates of Kewanee).

“We believe strongly in the KEDC’s mission of expanding opportunities for economic growth, employment, education and entrepreneurship” Petersen said. “So we will continue to support their work and we encourage other area businesses to join us. A healthy and active KEDC means a more resilient Kewanee. We all win in the end.”

Not surprisingly Medley, whose organization is partially supported through appropriations from the City Council of Kewanee, agrees. “Our most crucial revenue source will always be contributions from leaders in the private sector like Petersen” Medley said.
