LaHarpe Davier Pumpkin Patch Visit

Our residents have been keeping busy this time of year. In September we were invited to the “Long Term Golden Games” in Quincy. It is held at their senior center. Facilities from all over were invited to attend. They provided all sorts of games for the residents to play and they won tickets to purchase items later in the day. They also provided entertainment and a free lunch that consisted of fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie with cool whip! They also held a name tag contest that circled around their carnival theme. We made a corn dog, popcorn, cotton candy, clown, carnival ticket, lemonade shake up and even a flower that squirted water. Stacy, Beth and Angie went along with Marjorie Meyers, Don Stevens, Flo Bowen and Minnie Terrell. Everyone had a blast and hope to be invited again next year. Not only did they attend the Golden Games, but we also made a trip to Rogers Pumpkin Patch. Stacy and Angie took Mary Douglas, Pauline Hedges, Betty Link and Flo Bowen. Each resident got to pick out a pumpkin and a gourd to take back with them. They enjoyed taking in the fall scenery and looking at all the different pumpkins. We got a very welcoming visit from the LaHarpe Elementary and Junior High this year. All students came over the week before Halloween and paraded through the facility with their Halloween costumes on. We saw everything from a whoopie cushion to doctors. Every student received a piece of candy on their way out. The residents really liked seeing all of the different costumes. Every year the residents help make trick or treat bags for the kids on Halloween. We have a lot of kids come in to trick or treat every year and the residents hand out their bags that they made for them. This is always such a busy time of year and the residents are always willing to participate.
