Courtyard Estates of Peoria’s 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off was hosted on January 31st. The public was invited to join in the fun and friendly competition at Peoria’s premier senior living community. Participants indulged in all you can eat chili for only $5.00 with all proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“Our residents were eagerly anticipating Courtyard Estates of Peoria’s 2013 Chili Cook Off. Whether they had assisted with stirring up their famous recipe to enter, invited friends or family, or were just taste testing themselves they were all quite excited for the big event,” stated Ashley Steward, Admissions and Marketing Director.
Courtyard Estates of Peoria’s 2013 Chili Cook Off judges included Laura Trantina with Hospice Compassus, Daryl Klusendorf, Owner of Peoria’s Sky Harbor Steakhouse, Mike Molleck with Limelight Communications, and Jana Grugett, Business Office Manager at Courtyard Estates of Peoria. The judges were responsible for awarding both Best Overall Chili and Most Unique Chili. 2013 Most Unique Chili award went to David Ward and the Best Overall Chili trophy was awarded to Anthony Hoopingarner with the Limestone Fire Department.
Courtyard Estates of Peoria donated all remaining chili to the local Southside Mission. “Our residents are always seeking ways to give back to the community and are thankful to have such a wonderful organization nearby in order to do so,” added Ms Steward.
Courtyard Estates of Peoria is one of many senior living facilities owned and operated by Petersen Health Care that focuses on raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year Petersen Health Care cumulatively donated $50,000 to the foundation.
“St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is an organization near and dear to our heart. Courtyard Estates of Peoria, as well as Petersen Health Care, support and embrace St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s mission of advancing cures and prevention for catastrophic pediatric diseases through research and treatment,” stated Courtyard Estates of Peoria Executive Director, Amanda Hendricks. “As a whole our company can easily relate to St. Jude’s cause. Being caregivers ourselves we all have a strong passion and desire to help our community and to help others.”
Paying for lunch and donating to research, treatment, and a cure was a no brainier for many as crowds shuffled into the supportive living residence. The community was not only leaving Courtyard Estates of Peoria with a full stomach, but was able to contribute to a great cause.
