Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center supports Radio Bloomington Radiothon for St. Jude.
Radio Bloomington hosted a Radiothon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital on February 7th and 8th. Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center sponsored an Angel of the Hour each day and the staff manned the phones for an hour each day to assist in raising over $79,000.
The radio group includes B104, WJBC and WBNQ. B104 has been airing its St. Jude Radiothon for five years, focusing on local families who have benefited from the charitable hospital and research center in Memphis, TN There is also a St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. WJBC joined in with full participation in 2012 and WBNQ joined the two-day production this year.
This is Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center’s first year to participate but not their only work for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. They host an Annual St. Jude Benefit at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The 2012 Benefit won the Petersen Health Care awards for Community Event of the year and the award for raising the most money within the corporation for St. Jude.
Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center’s Annual St. Jude Benefit is scheduled for July 20th this year.
Piper City Rehab & Living Center
On Thursday January 31st, Piper City Rehab hosted a Chili Cook-off to begin our celebration of 40 years of Dedicated Service. With 13 crock pots full of chili entered in the contest, the community, staff and residents had very full stomachs after taste testing. Also at Piper City Rehab we celebrated Activity Week by having a Festive week of Activities for staff and residents. Wednesday was Pie Eating Contest Day and the winner was Donna Dickenson, C.N.A. We had 6 contestants and 6 very overstuffed staff members. Other Residents and Staff Cheered us on in the fight to win Illini Cups.

Today we celebrated Activities by dressing up in old fashion hats and boas and taking Glamour shots of all the Residents and Staff. It was a Kodak moment day!
