Debra Hughes, BOM & Michelle Blain, Administrator at Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center
Petersen Health Care recently honored Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center employee Debra Hughes as Business Office Manager of the Year at their 2014 award banquet. Hughes was selected from a pool of almost 90 business office managers across the state after being nominated by her co-workers.
“Debra has dedicated herself to our business office for almost 10 years. She handles every admission from the initial inquiry call or tour and is a true resident advocate throughout the entire process. Every day, she works with countless community partners, insurance companies and state and federal agencies to ensure that our residents receive all the benefits they have worked and paid for over the years” shares Michelle Blain, administrator of VRHCC.
Hughes has also been active in the local Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and has offered insight, leadership and guidance to many community organizations from her years of experience working in business management. Currently, Debra is also pursuing a law degree, excelling in her classes, while working full time at VRHCC.
“We could not be more proud of the work Debra does every day for our residents. Even with a full plate of work in our business office, she will take the time to share a smile or join in a special event and assist our residents. She is an amazing person with a truly compassionate nature” adds Amanda Spade, community relations coordinator for Petersen Health Care. “She is also available as a resource to our community for questions related to short term post-hospital care or long term care services and has helped many families access needed services over the years”.
