The Koopman Garden Tour for LaHarpe Davier Residents

Garden Tour for LaHarpe Davier Residents

Bud and Stacy

Early afternoon on the fourth of July Tom Koopman welcomed a large group of residents from LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center. Tom’s beautifully manicured garden is two blocks from the facility in LaHarpe. Most of the visitors were able to walk down to Tom’s home to see the array of beautiful lily’s he has grown over the years. Tom has a wonderful yard full of them.  He picked one for each resident and shared with us the name of the lilies he had grown and pointed out the different aromas each one gives. Our residents truly enjoyed the afternoon with Tom and his garden of fresh lilies. It was a wonderful day filled with memories.

4th of July at Benton Rehabilitation and Health Care

BENTON, IL – Independence Day, with its parades and fireworks, may be over, but the staff at Benton Rehabilitation & Health Care Center will continue the celebration all week long. According to Benton RHCC Activity Director Traci Webster “There’s nothing more important than honoring America’s birthday, but the holiday weekend is so busy. So we’re having a big, public cook-out on Wednesday, July 13th.”

Wednesday’s baseball-themed festivities run from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM, rain or shine, and everything is free and open to the public. Webster said “We’ll have activities all week for our residents and their families, but our staff thought we should host a free cook-out on Wednesday because so many services provided to seniors have been cut for budgetary reasons. Wearing our favorite baseball jerseys and inviting the public just seemed like a fun thing to do!”

Benton Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is located at 1409 North Main Street, one mile north of the square on Route 37, in Benton. For more information call 618.435.2712
