July 4th was celebrated in high fashion at LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center. Red, white and blue firecracker popsicles were enjoyed that morning to get the day off to a cool start. While some residents were enjoying their cool treats, Minnie Terrell was the facilities honoree in the Fourth of July parade in Carthage. Marsha and Gary Stiller decorated their red mustang with LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center banners, and Minnie got to ride along. She smiled from ear to ear as Gary drove that beautiful red mustang down the street. Representatives from the facility included Shellie Blunt, Beth Covert and Stacy Fisher. The team walked along side Minnie as they threw candy to the crowd. It was a long hot walk on that sun filled summer day and we enjoyed every minute of it. We all had a great time.
National Pecan Pie Day – LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center
National Pecan Pie Day was celebrated with residents at LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center on July 12, 2011. We celebrate just a little bit of everything here at the facility, especially when it comes to dessert! Erin and Stacy served up some delicious pecan pie to the residents along with some cold refreshments. We had a full table that afternoon and some interesting conversations. We also served some apple pie to those who did not prefer pecan. Everyone loved the pie. A couple residents commented on how good the crust tasted. One resident said it tasted just as good as when his mom made it. This is one day that we will have to continue celebrating in the years to come!
